If you previously graduated to enjoy a German vehicle and can’t seem to stand anything else but really needed a practical car for the farm, your prayers have finally been answered... by Volkswagen.

The Germans, better known for their sleek executive cruisers and fuel-efficient small cars, have decided to build a pick-up truck. In their perfectionist nature they needed to get it right the first time.

Practice, they say makes perfect, so in 1989 Volkswagen approached Toyota who build one of the best pick-ups in the market and entered a joint venture.

The product of that union was called the Volkswagen Taro. It looked like and was a Toyota Hilux in every way except for the badge.

Yes indeed, the VW will definitely debut at number one! Navara is good, but the Dmax has a better engine, so the three - only those three are really worth every penny.

I had a Ford Ranger for a week or so and it was great too. The Mitsubishi I haven't really experienced, but am told it is also very good, maybe if I was to drive one I'd place it in category one, but for now that's my 2 cents. The toyota is still overrated and this is clear from the fact that it may no longer be the top selling pickup since DMax sales exceeded toy sales a couple of years back.

My Experience
Navara 2.5DCi ... 32- 34mpg (13.5-14.5 km/l) average (on 2wd). unless the computer is faking this.
Its better than a 1.8(petrol) C-class and even much better than a 1.8 E-class.
