His body was flown to South Africa because an energy crisis in the nation of 13 million was so severe the Lilongwe state hospital would have been unable to conduct a proper autopsy or even keep his body refrigerated, the sources said. Many Malawians blame Mutharika personally for the economic woes, which stem ultimately from a diplomatic spat with former colonial power Britain a year ago. "We know he is dead and unfortunately he died at a local, poor hospital which he never cared about - no drugs, no power," said Chimwemwe Phiri, a Lilongwe businessman waiting in a snaking line of cars for fuel at a petrol station. This is shocking news to me. Just sometime back, I read somewhere Malawi was doing very well under his leadership and Malawi was not begging for food or aid anymore? Could the west have sabotaged the progress? you know how they are! I would not be surprised if they wekad a 10 day viagra dose in his food. You mean a country can be so badly off such that it doesn't have the capacity take care of the body of it's dead president? The sooner African countries break off the shackles of the west the better! its not in our interest to be under their 'goodwill'. the brits withdrew their 'goodwill' and Malawians/Zimbabweans suffered. unless we want to be foot soldiers in this global game. the faster we diversify ourselves the better.
