Went to an ATM over 2 weeks ago and on inserting my ATM, the thing spewed a kool 20k (had not keyed in my PIN). Perturbed, checked my balance and it was intact, 2 weeks later no credit passed to recover the said amount. Yesterday, went to another ATM (different bank), same script only that the amount was much less and had keyed my PIN. What should i do with this money? Sad

As a Monopoly player I'd say you landed on the 'BANK ERROR IN YOUR FAVOR' spot. Twice. Lucky.

I can't keep this cash (conscience won't allow), its not rightfully mine.

These are the options i have:

1. Return the cash to the bank but to whom? (laughable).
2. Donate to charity.

You don't give what is not yours.
In short, don't offer a sacrifice that didn't cost you anything in the first place.
If i were you, i'd return the money to the bank, for the favour i'm expecting from God is much more than the 20somthing thousand of foreign money(someone else's money)!
Then you will sleep like a baby!

Thank you for the straight answer...makes a lot of sense!

To whom at the bank? They might as well pocket it but that shouldn't worry me having done what is right. Catch-22.

Invest the money wisely, since they will still haunt you after they realize and you will have made good use of the money too.

when you go to a bank, say you wanted to deposit like 50k,then it happens you give the teller some excess without your knowledge. They wont ask you anything.Moments after you bounce you will get a call asking you if your money is sawasawa in an "under-deposited" tone.Once you confirm you are good the teller queries his faculties on whether they should just keep the extra loot or pass it through the branch manager/vault dude. Most cases it's the latter and they split your money.Go figure!

Some wazuan here once said that if the bank has your money, its your problem to ensure it OK, likewise, if you have bank's money, its up to them to ensure everything is OK!
