If you previously graduated to enjoy a German vehicle and can’t seem to stand anything else but really needed a practical car for the farm, your prayers have finally been answered... by Volkswagen.
The Germans, better known for their sleek executive cruisers and fuel-efficient small cars, have decided to build a pick-up truck. In their perfectionist nature they needed to get it right the first time.
Practice, they say makes perfect, so in 1989 Volkswagen approached Toyota who build one of the best pick-ups in the market and entered a joint venture.
The product of that union was called the Volkswagen Taro. It looked like and was a Toyota Hilux in every way except for the badge.
