..What a rubbish idea, reminds me recently when Tesco (big UK supermarket chain) hired a consultant to find out why water melons above a certain size are not bought and you know what the good consultant came up with after an exhaustive research he found out there is a co-relation between melons and womens bust hence women avoiding BIGGER watermelons...now thats what i call RUBBISH!!! am sure even the butchery man in Kayole can come up with better findings..

I think its a way of catching wasiolipa ushuru. With a bank account one will be tempted to deposit

Maybe it's feasible. Imagine all the people registered on Mpesa and all the mobile money tranfers were linked to an interest earning account like what we have on Orange Money and everyone had a debit card. You could go to an agent or use the debit card at an ATM to get money or even do other things that the debit card allows you to -hence more convenience and that means alot of people will be in mainstream banking. Or someone came up with a system that would give the convenience of mobile money tranfer and is within the mainstream banking so people would be convinced to use it. Githae's dream will become a reality without actually forcing people to open accounts which would otherwise lay dormant.
