Happy to see. Hope NSE preserves capital tomorrow noting the company is keen on maintaining steady rewards to shareholders.

Quote:
* FY pretax 2.14 billion shillings vs 2.05 billion in 2010

* Gross premiums up 39 percent to 15.98 billion

* EPS 33.10 shillings vs 32.25

* Dividend raised 110 percent to 5.50 shillings per share

* To make one for 10 bonus share issue

My Observation

Jubilee operating income declined by 37% (from 1,692,717 to 1,070,097). They were saved by share of results of associates which was up 167% (from 420,978 to 1,123,735).

However, the brighter side of things is that the operating income was messed up by Net Fair Value Gains on Financial Assets at FVTPL which went down 120% (from 1,633,103 to a loss of 329,164). This will improve when stock markets improve.

Their underwriting business is doing well and recorded a profit of 540,000 up from 476,000. And a feather was added to their rich cap by Bima Awards 2012 because of this insurance business.

Also notable is that they increased their holding of government securities by 3,919,999. This will give them good returns in an era where rates at primary market are declining (meaning good valuation of the bond and good returns on trading in secondary market)

From a holistic view, these are fair results. From a futuristic view, the stock is a BUY.

…. And applause that Jubilee is now also No. 1 (market leader) in Tanzania.

N.B. Figures are in KES '000'

My feel on anniversary goodies

It’s very disappointing that the meager dividend and bonus is what they are calling 75th anniversary goodies. Market expectations were way higher. This should be protested at the AGM

Not exactly what I expected but good enough...

They were hit very hard by the equity market and still grew PAT..

That said I am now tempted to exit now and re enter at a lower price later in the year because I have a feeling the market is not impressed with these..

@mwekez@ji kewli unaweka hazina. How do you get such indepth breakdown of the performance yet the published results are simple consolidated lines?

@guru267, you had me riled up there with talk of anniversary celebrations and your love for the counter. No hard feelings though, I'm growing so old and I've become keen on capital preservation these days.

@Guru,
Any idea if the lovely and consistent 1 for 10 bonus will be sustained in coming years ?

decent results. Compare with britak and you instantly realise how well theyve done.

It will be there so long as the board continues to have a 14% dividend payout of PAT..

Not that I'm complaining.. Ive received four bonuses (1:4, 1:10, 1:10, 1:10) to date along with a dividend and the price has held up so I have to say JUB is making me mula with these bonuses... smile
