African countries that produce oil are listed below, starting with the highest producer all the way to the lowest. I have analyzed the % of citizens living below KES 80 per day for each country and the main international players in each.

1. Nigeria.
2.8m barrels per day.
Oil Discovery date: 1956
Oil Discovery Nationality: British. Royal Dutch Shell

The largest oil producer in Africa has over 70% of its population in deep poverty. Royal Dutch Shell has been controlling this oil industry since 1950s.

2. Algeria.

@harryde..we are dealing with a % of the total population that lives on less than 1 usd per day. This is the best measure to see whether the oil is really helping its citizens.

Notes:
Uganda even without oil exports has a very low % of its citizens in poverty-24.5%.
Chad, even with 'assistance' from Worldbank since 2003, has 80% of its population in abject poverty.
Kenya, even without oil export, has a higher % of its population above poverty level than most oil producing african countries.

KE is in a unique position since both the west & chings are here. Therefore east & west have to find away of making this marriage work. Else everyone loses. So stop worrying, this marriage has to work if anyone is to benefit from the coming boom of EA economies which will flow into DRC, CAR till Cameroon and south to Mozambique. With that in mind, would any investor want to screw things up? Backward politicians don't stand a chance.

Civil wars are engineered to achieve some obscure point. Like what is happening in Libya today. Especially what is happening in Libya. Its is merely a means to an end. Not an end in itself.

Mr. Hisah, Some leaders in the West are working hard to revive the cold war calling certain Eastern countries 'our number one geopolitical foe'. And these certain Eastern countries are giving back, opposing these Western countries in a tit-for-tat fashion.

We will be the grass that suffers! What shall we do?

Maybe Uganda has been bombarded with the Worldbank loans such that once they start mining the oil, the capitalists come in and do as described in the video..

Nigerians have not deciphered what is going on, neither have Ugandans. We Africans might never decipher what is going on.

The characteristics: oil, investors, (short term) blooming capitalism, poverty, (violent) schism in the society, corruption, and .............................. the (permanent?) presence of greatest military in the world.

Both countries are in various stages of the plan in the video. I am afraid for us.
