My brother feels that his career is in Fling planes.
What are the specifics before one can acquire a PPL or CPL in KEnya or abroad?
Please share the information

All one need is money. Its cheaper and faster to do it abroad, but one would have to convert their license when they get back to kenya. Its like any other course. PPL can take one month to complete and the whole course can take less than two years, the tricky part is in gaining flying hours and all that needs is money. If he passed KCSE then its simple. Nway you could always google flying schools and their requirements.

If I'm not wrong, KQ sponsors some people to take flying courses in South Africa. I don't know the procedure but I [indirectly] know two fellows who did their piloting in S.A. under the sponsorship of KQ. They both come from families with "muscle" though so I don't know if it is the "muscle" that helped or there is a defined channel on how to apply. It can't hurt to check it out though.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Word on the street back then when I was interested in a similar career path is that a 'donation' of a mirrion,...for worthy causes,.. was very welcome

KQ advertise in their web & this is for the talented students (A- & above). Qualifying students are sponsored to pursue piloting in SA.
KQ also was to establish academy

Well I know around 6 guys from my former school who went through the KQ programme and are now employed by KQ.

They are from ordinary families, not the kind that would cough up 1m for a sponsored training whose costs are to be later recovered from your family.

Infact, the first guy to join this programme from our class was a very humble guy from a humble background and he joined them a few months after we received our KCSE results.

All the guys who got KCSE sponsorship got A OR A- and were also very good in sciences. They underwent tests including some in the sciences(physics & Chem). Other tests include a health check which disqualified one of my buddies.

If you have the money, you do not need to be an A student to train. Just sponsor the young mn and if he really feels it, he will ,make it! I know a guy who got a C plain and he is a pilot.
Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray

Well said @Lolest, that is the way it is at KQ.
The problem sometimes comes up when the older pilots fristrate you after your return from SA!!!
