Conventional thinkers waste time building shelters when they are unnecessary and then have no shelters when they need them the most. Socionomists do the opposite.

Anyone knows the owner of the other 50% i.e Africa Oil? Tullow own 50% interest while Africa Oil has the rest...

@A4,

The block borders Pokot and Samburu as you say but not this particular location.

Hold your horses until the economic viability is ascertained by drilling multiple wells...but it is still good news after all.

its obviously economically viable..the explorations in Lamu and Isiolo havent yielded much as in economically viable ammounts..this is most definitely very viable and larger than Unganda's

Since the central government is to play guarantor for county loans, 'we' may need a strong man at the helm - meaning a stronger central government - lest the proceeds go to white elephant projects and the like.

County governors will need to be more visionary and the whole country will need to develop synergies quickly; but is this possible given our political and economic models?

The situation is like having talent but lacking the discipline to use it to excel. So, in the end most of us will be waiting for benefits to trickle down through fat cat fingers.

This is the best news we have heard in a long time. However let us not be too optimistic, as you notice the exploration block is owned by Tullow Oil and Africa Oil. That means that the rights have already been sold as someone has already benefitted from the deal. It may be a deal similar to Uganda where the country will only get a pittance from taxes which we dont know what was agreed. You may recall that some cabinet ministers had been allocated oil exploration blocks that they sold on. These issue was highlighted in The East African recently..
At least the Northern frontiers and Kapenguria will get some services and infrastructure. These parts of the country have been neglected by successive governments. The only form of government these parts of the government has been NGOs and churches.

@A4,
It all depends on the way the goverment has it on agreement.In the case of UG,Tullow went into a production sharing agreement.Being whom they are,they invited Total and CNOOC in an agreement known as farmdown (Sharing the spoil)....but M7 took them through a tough 18 months as Tullow wanted to export the crude while M7 was for a refinery to benefit the region.He got his way but even then,Tullow still earned 310m USD for the farmdown grimiti which in turn availed capital for building the refinery.
