We spent nearly 15 years fighting for new constitutional order. We were clobbered, nearly maimed...remember Njoya wailing? Some of us were not very far. One thing WE WANTED was a DEFINITE ELECTIONS DATE elections that can even be inserted in our textbooks.

This was to remove the uncertainty so that Kenyans can plan to avert losses associated with elections.

Now we are back to the same thing.... 2 people to decide. For me, it would have been better to pay off the MPigs for 5 months salaries and hold the elections in August. We'll still pay them and I can bet they'll achieve nothing in those 5 months.

Business/econ wise we are doomed till we get over with elections

quick question. Are you going to suspend fending for your own till elections are over?

GGK- I agree with you. Kibaki is on his notice period, the majority of the cabinet is campaigning either for the presidency or senator/governor roles. Every other day, you hear about another corruption/campaign fund raising scandal. There is an option to close out this period in August and I think as an economy/nation/NSE investors we should grasp it with both hands...

Elections date, elections date, elections date! August is out. Who controls 'committee on coalition issues' and how powerful is it? Given that cabinet were for elections in Dec(17th to be specific) I don't see us going to 2013.

I hate the fact that politics is a major factor in our lives. The ICC verdicts are out and now they are appealing, the bourse is boosted by foreigners buying and by the way do you guys (Cde, the deal, hisah, QW) think that local investors have that band wagon mentality of imitating foreigners in all they do thus remaining way behind the curve? Just a thought...

Local investors being who - institutions or wanjikus?
From the Safcom IPO time, wanjikus went back to the farms (nyagas, thuos etc broker frauds and GFC just capitulated most of them). Those wanjikus that went back to farming have recouped their loses with food prices spiking since 2009 to date.

From the volume movement, local institutions are yet to step on the plate. Btw I thought NSSF big funds were supposed to be raining into the NSE at the current discounts. What happened?

I thought the foreigners are buying and if we were to imitate them we should be buying which is not the case.

I guess this election debate won't leave us alone..Kibaki and Raila meeting today, outcome will be 2013 no matter how much Raila bickers and grumbles. Accumulate is the theme of the year people.
