If you have some cash floating around; this is the time to stock up. Prices are fairly stable on most counters...at least the ones in my portfolio are...with minor up-down movements

Couldnt agree with you more.

My time horizon is upto 2012,i think the following counters will yield a good return;

1. EABL - just love this stock. Words are inadequate to describe it.

2. Jubilee - where the Aga Khan is,i dwell there.

3. NMG - as above (no. 2)

4. EB - haters are hating as we make the bucks.

5. BAT - another one of my favourites,the dividends make me blush.

6. Bamburi - no need to explain.

I personally have a love affair with the blue chips,they anchor me well during the tides,

and they see to it that i smile to the bank,as others wail and groan.

Anyone still watching from the sidelines will be cursing sooner than 2012 i think.Look at yesterdays trading and note some enlightened guys are filling their boots.We have underperfomed the worldwide equity markets recovery which to a good extent got us where we are.With pregnant clouds overhead the debelitating drought could be on its way with all the spicing to the economy.Have been filling up Equity,KCB,EABL and Sasini.

see it through my lens?

Stock investing is overated given the effort. The house always seems to win

@waria;

in the stock market; who is 'the house'?

The market administrator (NSE) in our case?
or
The broker?
or
The guy who sells to you?
or
The one you buy from?
or
The company in [out of] which you are buying [selling]?

As we all stock up,there is one counter i have been having a feeling,a feeling it will out-perform most of the counters. On a normal day i let fundamentals [and to a lesser degree,sentiments] guide my decision,but i feel Scan Group will do very well in the next 10 months.Had the same kind of feeling before Express K,Mumias,KPLC,KQ and ARM went up drastically. I've given myself two more weeks,if the same persists,i will stock up.

If u want to stock up buy safcon
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

@lyanne

you have a way with words that soothe the current weather beaten investing mood.

Do i take that you are normally risk averse by your choice of stocks?

@ Move

Most people always say i have a way with words. Some tell me to write a book but as of now i have no plot to write about.

Im not risk averse,just that i prefer stocks that have good dividends,capital appreciation and are monopolies in their segment.

@ Erick

Its a bit to early for that now.

I agree that it is a time to stock up. It is safer with the blue chips but wouldn't hurt also taking some risks. So do your research and go for it. Better to aim long term,five years kuendelea. To the new in the game and if you really need that money,I highly recommend 'safer' forms of investment. Things are not yet as predictable. @ Ericks,that was gross

from the ongoing discussions,i have picked 10 stocks that are popular to members. I am not a blue chip investor. Now,let us shift to no touch: the counter you have never and never think of putting your money in,excluding,suspended stocks and those in the alternative market segment. For me,it is eveready. the reason is,the management is not innovative and spends all time complaining about one thing or the other.

@ lyanne,

I feel your sentiments with blue chips cos.While they manage to stay afloat during the bad times like we are experiencing,its my take that during the boom they dont appreciate that much compared to some other stocks that are yet to get to that status.

@ Stonemimi..

for me eveready is a no go zone,they have no future strategies no innovative ideas,nothing... also i wouldnt touch the alternative investment market segment a part from the tea companies....

I can't touch A.Baumann; reason is that I have no clue what business they are in...does anyone know? Has anyone ever bought anything from them? What affects their market?
