Need urgent advice. Yesterday, thieve broke to my house, and among the things they stole were transfer(including copies of buyers and sellers id and kra pin and insurance sticker) documents for a vehicle i recently bought and am in the process of changing log book into my name. I had taken original log to kra who issued me a receipt. These receipts were stolen together with original transfer. As of now, i don't have anything apart from car keys and to get things movinh at kra, i needed the receipts. I have reported to police today, where do i go from here as i need a log book in my name asap. The thugs might be 1 step infront in trying to defraud me.

Well seems you had already initiated the transfer process @ KRA. If so, go to them with the Police abstruct and let them know nobody else is to pick your logbook. When they are ready, collect it and you should be fine. what will they do with receipts?

Thanks @ Harrydre for your advise. What am worried about is the possibility of impersonation and corruption. I will go to kra tommorrow hoping they will be helpful.

possession is 9 points of the law. if you have the car...and have reported the same to the police and KRA. Then you have very little to worry about. the kauzis will need to show up and confront you on the car matter.

You simply need to apply for a duplicate logbook. However, the process is quite lengthy so get full details from KRA Customer Care, Banking wing. However, right now you need to write a letter requesting for a caveat to be placed on your vehicle and deliver to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. (Attach the sale agreement as proof of ownership together with a sworn affidavit)

All transfers will be blocked and when the thieves lodge the documents for processing the docs will be detained and you will be informed. This is an easier way of getting back the logbook, however it depends on how soon the docs get to KRA.

@ sizzla thanks for the info. Fortunately, today i received a call informing me my documents had been see. I came to learn that the thugs dumped them somewhere. A lady took the risk, that despite the fact that when people call for such documents, they might be suspected, she knew she was only doing what is right. Am amazed that despite how cruel this world has become, some people continue to have such kindness. I also appreciate the seller who had continued to support me under these circumstances. I have always believed that the most important thing in purchase of a property are 1. How clean is the title and 2. The integrity of the seller. From this experience, i feel not only vindicated but also blessed.
