ukipata pia sisi tuambie..
by google search and directory searches i found serviscope in industrial area and ramco on mombasa road...
slook at a qoute of a simple implement i was looking for..
serviscope gave me better quotes as opposed to ramco... here is an example
"Bookshelf-style bread cooling drawer Length1900mm x 600mm x 1800mm to fit oven plates of overall dimension 600x400mm."
serviscope - 60,000; ramco - 140,000
i get this feeling ramco is busy... with a lot orders for hotels and milk factories for stainless steel equipment..
one of the strategies though mentioned to me by someone in my search.. is to look for closed down bakeries and buy their equipment..
on the other hand i have seen community based organisations in rwanda start bakeries in villages and orphanages using traditional rudimentary equipment..
i wonder if it would work in kenya though..
let me give a simple case study in pizza..
a pizza kiln made from clay bricks would at most cost you about 40,000.. you roll the dough by hand make long mwiko's from mbao and you make nice italian looking pizzas that a have a charred end..
the commercial pizza making machine though is different.. from what i saw at serviscope the total cost of equipment to have a pizza inn kind of small shop will offset you most of 2,000,000 KES.. you get a pizza in five
the rwanda bakery guys slice their bread with knives or something else equally blunt..
may be someone in the forum can guide us as to where uchumi get their equipment from..
