About 25 years. But many people wrongly think it was a Kibaki creation.

But it became a bank 6 years agod'oh!

It used to be a Faulu type of "bank".
It became a fully fledged bank when the nakakenya took charge.

Mwangi has been reducing his holding
BRITAK has been reducing her holding
Other (not in top 10 list) shareholders are increasing

Prophets of doom......stop hating, they've just had a 45% increase in profits. What's wrong with that.....?

I'm still not convinced, those "notable" changes in shareholding are not that significant compared to what was there last year. I repeat again stop hating.....I'm sure if we analyzed other counters we would see some changes in the shareholders list.

Not notable, really?

Do you know that Late Muguku was exiting before he passed on?

And the former ceo, kagema, is now not in the top 10 shareholders list

You don't need to read between the lines, the answers are right there! I think anyone who up to now thinks Equity Bank is about to collapse needs a reality check.

Not accurate.

Equity become a bank in 2004, listed on NSE in 2006.

Was started in 1984; Declared insolvent in 1993; Taken over by Mwangi & Co in 1994... 10 years later 2004 it was more than ready for banking license.

Its very dangerous for a bank to grow so fast like equity because to manage you just need the managers goodwill not the ceo's capability,,how many times do u travel to uganda, rwanda and sudan to monitor?

Kcb has 4 branches in nairobi cbd, equity has more than 10 branches in the same area, equity's blind expansion will eat on its profits sooner than you expect.

Equity has more customers within CBD thus perhaps the need for more branches than KCB.More customers=more account charges & commissions.
