Those who were in the books on June 21, 2011 will get the 1:8 bonus issue. Is there another bonus for those who had the shares before Feb 28, 2012 or what is all the hype about the bonus coming more than seven months later? Is there a second bonus that became ex-bonus on Feb 28, 2012 or someone is out of his/her locker over the bonus issue?

Bless.

It is from this story that I also got more confused about what they are saying than getting enlightened.

Investor demand had risen ahead of its February 28 book closure and the price had been sustained at the Sh16-15 level but has since eased to trade just shy of the Sh14 price level.

“The market had factored in the bonus issue and we saw the price come down,” said Francis Mwangi, a research analyst at Standard Investment Bank.

Should the 14bob price have come after June 2011 or Afrter Feb 28 this yr

Factored in the bonus. When did the factoring in occur, this month or last year?

KPLC's financial year ends in June 30th. The bonus issue could not have been made in retrospect. The financial report for 2011 June 30th year came out around August. The closing date for the bonus issue was 28th Feb 2012,with the shares available for trade at a date to be "confirmed".
That's what i read from the report. Standard Investment Bank have one online.

The 1:8 bonus and Dividend announced last year closed on 28th Feb.
The interim div of 20cts announced in Feb hasn't closed yet. This div will not be paid on additional 1:8 bonus you acquired though.

I don't know if this is clear.

BBI will solve it

The interim dividend of 0.20 cents will be paid on the bonus shares! take a keen look at the announcements below which you can get from NSE. By the time the books close on 12th april the bonus shares will have been uploaded on march 26th.

Kenya Power announced an Interim dividend of shs.0.20 on 27-February-2012. Books closure 12-April-2012. Payment 31-May-2012.

Kenya Power announced a Bonus Ratio 1:8 on 19-October-2011. Books closure 28-February-2012 - Upload of new shares 26-March-2012.

We saw a diluted earnings per share meaning the dividend is factored in the new shares.
