I'm still not convinced that a school can lead and have 2 students candidates in top 100.is the knec site now working?

What the original poster really is questioning is the systems used by KNEC.

Would he have tried to audit KNEC and 2011 KCSE Examinations had his Alliance or preferred schools(s) been number one?

What is his motive in all this? Is it to improve secondary education in Kenya? Or just to get the 'right' school as number one?

Why is he getting all his data from all sorts of third party sites and places except where it should be got from, KNEC?

@Sirikali1

What I know is that No high school goes to college. It is the students performance that matters. From you analysis, it seems, on the face of it, AHS, having 29 students int the top 100 in 2010 is the better school to take my kid. The rest is hogwash really. Thanks for the analysis though!

To YesuWangu,

What is the fuss about school ranking?

Given the direct impact that school examination results have on the lives of millions (parents, students, teachers etc), the release of the recent KCSE results is surely one of the year's biggest events, exceeded, perhaps, only by the results of this year's elections and release of KCPE results.

Do you not agree that we should get as much of the story right, especially given how Maranda-driven the KCSE discussion has been?

I am just being vigilant. Are you? It has been said that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

Sorry, you are both COMPLETELY wrong. I do not blame you, though, for reaching the conclusions that you did. It is a common fallacy that if 2 students both get As in,say, math, and one had an average of 95% and the other 80%, then the 95% A has "more points" than the 80%.

I always get a laugh out of that one.

In calculating the school's performance index, the contributions from the 95% and 80% students are EXACTLY, PRECISELY the same: 12 points.

So, to pariah, wewe, ni shule gani ulienda? Which math teacher told you that 12>12? I say we find him and hang him.

And to all my detractors, I absolutely love the way that you have ALL avoided the central issue here: namely, that Maranda's index is really 11.057 and not 11.287 which is what was used when the order of merit was being complied.

I suppose you understand that if you engage me in an analysis of the data, I would defeat you. I suppose rather than taking me on on that point, it is so much easier for you to take the easy way out and brand me a tribalist.

@Dawaman, this guy has been in Form 1 for 4 years, forgive him.

He thinks all As has 12.000000 points!
