Something sounds so wrong at the idea of i buying or trying to buy kenyan land from a foreigner, esp a chinese

Read the Constitution of Kenya (2010):

Quote:
"Landholding by non-citizens

Article 65.
(1) A person who is not a citizen may hold land on the basis of leasehold tenure only, and any such lease, however granted, shall not exceed
ninety-nine years.

(2) If a provision of any agreement, deed, conveyance or document of whatever nature purports to confer on a person who is not a citizen an interest in land greater than a ninety-nine year lease, the provision shall
be regarded as conferring on the person a ninety-nine year leasehold interest, and no more."

If you deny foreigners completely, you stifle foreign investment.

If you insist joint ownership with citizens, you encourage corruption... government officials and their families and cronies will find a new kick-back avenue!

All in all, I think that they way this matter was handled in the our constitution is the best.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

How did you know it is a sale advert? Maybe it was a caveat emptor.

I think the new land bill cures this situation.

All caveats I have seen have been 1/4 pg or less
This one is half a pg..
I doubt this has anything to do with chinese
I think the guys have used an unusual banner to
capture ones attention..

This reminds me of one @mlefu who though caveat emptor is the biggest land owner in Kenya

a law should be passed where foreign entities can only own land if they have a local onboard. like in Kuwait

Pliz explain. If a foreigner wants to build his home, they get a local on board?
Expound.

Don't look so far. Kenyans cannot buy land in Tanzania. At all! It is mediocre that foreigners can buy land in Kenya, and then get into the business of the selling the land to other people. GoK is asleep.

What is the lease period for foreigners? anyone in the know? because I heard it changed....

What do you think is a better duration and why didn't you propose it when we were writing the constitution?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
