I think its just as well that he has resigned, he has seemed increasingly clueless on how to make England perform. In my opinion, with Terry in the team, England lacks unity in the changing room. It would have been best though if the decision to strip Terry of the captaincy arm-band was made by Capello and Not the FA

@Taz, why would 'Arry leave Spurs when they are wthin reach of CL football again and Euro's starting in a few months, maybe in a care taker role like Guus did with Chelsea and Russia but not full time!That would be a slap on the face to a team that has supported him throughout...

@ Smano....Redknapp would jump at the opportunity to manage England and i don't think it would be as a care taker manager.....besides i don't think the FA would ever agree to that especially with the Euros coming just after end of season. He's already taken Spurs to the CL before so nothing new for him there. I also believe managing the National team will pay well than doing the same at Spurs. Even if he fails at the Euros i believe several EPL teams would consider taking him in.
Almost everyone is tipping him to succeed Capello including the players.....what a better stage to announce your presence than Euro 2012.

I think the only reason that Redknapp would manage the English team on a full time basis is for the money (I'm sure he'll be paid far more than Capello, considering the circumstances). Not because the English team have any chance of winning the Euros or winning a major trophy in the next one thousand years.

If I were Redknapp, I'd politely decline the English team job and continue coaching Spurs. If he takes the English team job, it's only a matter of time before the media turn on him after a string of poor performances, which are inevitable with an English team so lacking in talent and quality.

He only recently had heart surgery and for the last month or so was taken through a nightmare trial over tax evasion. He shouldn't take the job. And the Spurs fraternity would be very bitter at him for not seeing them through their most successful season yet.
