Exactly according to script. A couple of heads will roll in Kenya, some PR announcement made, Google pays at the worst tens of millions of dollars if Nasper insists on going to court and it is back to business as usual as this incident becomes an insignificant footnote in history. Google rakes in US$ 20-25 million in profit PER DAY.

I doubt if some tens of millions of dollars will be paid by Google here. Apart from that amount being too high for Kenyan courts to give given the circumstances, Google probably has several layers of deniability here. I however have little hope for the surviving of several guys' employment at Google Kenya though.

Of life and business:
@Techmtaa reports Google as having completed investigations and taking necessary action related to the saga.

In the end, Ms. Olga Arara-Kimani, Google Kenya country lead, she of top 40 under 40 women, is the hero who fell under the sword and bites the dust. (Ooh and some unknown tech guy in Zurich)

Hmmmn first foray, laudable project, high flying image, international mess up, humbling fall - but you can't keep the best of them down.

@masukuma, bravo! Really great video there. Only thing is, the fuhrer erroneously quotes Mucheru as the culprit. Poor guy had no idea about this. He oversees sub-Saharan Africa, not just Kenya, and relies on his country heads to do the right thing.

As for Ms Olga Devilla, I mean, Cruella Arara-Kimani... ah, the immediate former Google Kenya boss. She used her established methodology to try to get results as a means of shining and keeping her enviable position.

As an experienced manager, I've seen this woman at work first-hand. She's a terrible manager, people and otherwise, and uses whatever means she can get her hands on - be they right or not - to get and stay ahead. I wasn't surprised that Google Kenya was convinced that she was an achiever - she looks good (literally and on paper) and has an excellent track record, but what remains hidden is how she gets results. The truth, it seems, has finally surfaced.

As soon as this story broke, I had no doubt she was behind it. Her known tactics worked at Safaricom, EA Cables and yu. However, when employed at Google "Do No Evil", Inc, those same tactics rightfully came to bite her in the ass (nice one though she may have).

A look into her history, particularly her departure from Safaricom, will bear these accusations out. Clever lady, claiming to the press that she had to leave Google Kenya as the buck stopped with her. Watch her next move - that statement alone will help her land firmly on her feet. Hopefully, but methinks woefully I hope, she'll have learnt her lesson and will start to adopt more professional practices in her management style.
