@ spend, yaani according to you the gorvt. can never do anything right?
I think the only ppl against it is the landlords but it's a big step in the right direction.

ST,

Did you watch that woman say that she thinks she is in London.....wow,I felt happy for her and all the others that were celebrating. I know the slum upgrade thing is not,but we have to start somewhere,it is a long journey and maybe I will complete it when I become President of the Rebublic of Kenya. The govt have already paid for the construction of those house, probably the 1K is just for maintenance,it's not like the gava wanna make a profit out of it!!!!

definately a step in the right direction. The families are happy! I only pray that they maintain the houses in their condition and not trash them. a k rent is fair enough. @ spend what do u mean the gov has no business building houses for citizen?? If it doesn't will u? These people need proper housing without exploitation that comes with rent

You have a right to your opinion.

@spend. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that now we cannot afford to look back.
Free primary education was a major step in the right direction,it's not working perfectly, but we have no choice but to keep going.

I choose to opt out of this debate on Kibera slum upgrade and have exercised my option of deleting my posts.

My beginning was from a devil's advocate point of view and I hoped to elicit fundamantal retrospect like 'Bishop Augustine of Hippo',but the subsequent responses all seem to be ad hominem.

I wish the Kibera residents well.....

ST,yu dint have to delete your post,it makes the following post meaningless!!!

In reality,ad hominem is unrelated to sarcasm or personal abuse. Argumentum ad hominem is the logical fallacy of attempting to undermine a speaker's argument by attacking the speaker instead of addressing the argument. The mere presence of a personal attack does not indicate ad hominem: the attack must be used for the purpose of undermining the argument,or otherwise the logical fallacy isn't there. It is not a logical fallacy to attack someone; the fallacy comes from assuming that a personal attack is also necessarily an attack on that person's arguments.

Therefore,if you can't demonstrate that your opponent is trying to counter your argument by attacking you,you can't demonstrate that he is resorting to ad hominem. If your opponent's sarcasm is not an attempt to counter your argument, but merely an attempt to insult you (or amuse the bystanders),then it is not part of an ad hominem argument.
