Does 1870s New York mirror some aspects of a modern Nairobi?

I thought I should share this article with you wazuans.It got me wondering, will it take us 120 years for Nairobi to be at per with present day New York? (Well If New York remains unchanged for the next 120 years) http://www.dailymail.co....th-century-New-York.html

Even the present day New York has some filthy areas you would wish not to step into. Most roads too within the city are in a pathetic condition. The subway is also a mess with some very old trains and once in a while you will find rats in between the rails. There are also lots of homeless people on the streets and in the subway.If you thought Kenyan Ma'3s are bad, wait till you see the NYC yellow cabs and how they are driven. I think some of these places are overated.

wah, and they changed most of these in less that 4 generations.
