[quote=Magigi]Well...well..well...So much good said about her. But no man is perfect. she had a failed marriage...probably due to her combative nature, I don't know. Does anybody know why she divorced. because divorce is not a good thing!

Her hubby divorced her on grounds of adultery which she denied. He also said she was too stubborn, combative and educated. I think the law then was rather limited such that you could only divorce on grounds of cruelty, desertion or adultery so he had to state at least one to be granted a divorce; but the truth was probably that he felt intimidated by her. The judge who presided over her case was also biased against her, so she said

...Then they must have hidden under the blanket and played a AFC vs Gor Mahia game before the divorce...You want to tell me there were no goals scored! That the bullets missed their targets? Where are the children!!!

They have three children. 2 boys and a girl.
Lord, thank you!

its more sad that none of her kids have come into the limelight.Wangari said in one of final interviews that if she was to relive again she would have taken more time bringing up her kids.some lesson there on "things that matter in life" ."the one thing that I would do differently now is taking time off to raise my children." she said to Drum magazine

I hope holding the state funeral at Freedom Corner will not lead to destruction of the young trees at the Corner - contradicting what Wangari lived for.

Why would someone refuse to shake other's hand at such an event?

RIP Prof. Wangari Maathai. Hope we'll learn to embrace each other the way you wanted us to.

what is the obsession with viewing bodies? Some mourners actually blocked the cottage at kariokor demanding to see her body. Is it not better to remember prof in her charactersitc smile than her corpse.

Another befitting tribute to the late Prof

no trees were destroyed at the freedom corner. the only blemishes on the occasion was ngilu's snub of the vp and watu kupigwa ngeta
