Well! i don't believe the Earth is 6000 years old.

True, Adam lived 6000 years ago, but the earth is not 6000 years old. And you can get that in Genesis 1:1-2
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

You see, we all know what God creats is beautiful, but verse 2 says the earth was formless and void. That means there was a timeline between verse one and two. Remember when we are told that Lucifer was an archangel and I think in charge of music or something, then he wanted to be God and was condemned to the bottomless pit? Didnt that occur before Adam was created? Who knows, that period between the two verses could have been millions of years.

I thought God created everything in six days and Adam was created on the sixth day. When creationists trace christ's geneology back to Adam they come up with 6000 years. Should i add the 5 days before Adam was created to make it 6000 yrs+ 5 days?

Well, you thought wrong. Read my post again...and again, where I try to explain the time gap between verse 1 and verse 2 of Genesis 1. There's a time period there which could span million of years.

When God started day 1 of creation, the earth and heavens were already there. Get it? That means they had already been created before, and we are not told when. But look at Ezekiel 28:12-19, when it talks about Lucifer (which means day star, light giver, light bearer, son of the morning or Morning Star). Then look at Isaiah 14:12-15 where it explains the fall of Lucifer, the son of morning. My point is some events in the bible happened before Day 1 of Creation that is found in Gen 1:3 as we know it. These events happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. This time period could have spanned millions of years. So the earth is not 6000 years plus 5 days old, but way older.

@josiah33, Day 1 of creation in Gen 1:3 says "Let there be light"...not "Let there be earth". I hope you now understand.

That is the kind of mindset Africa needs to allow possibilities to develop from within the continent. How many of you would dare think and talk about faults found in the bible? Very few, because most of us have been brainwashed and wired to believe that whatever comes from the bible is sacred, whether its good or bad.

Sample this;

If I were Joseph, I would have listened to Mary intently on how she became pregnant. Before long, I would tell her to go tell that to the birds. She was simply a prostitute who needed a man to call her own. Anything else is hogwash. Question is, did we need the bearded jew to come and die for us? If it is the Jews who needed a messiah, why did we forget our religion and adapt the son of Mary as our saviour? It is a sign of enslavement. We have aped everything from the west including religion, immorality, behaviour and education at the expense of our own.

Does it make sense for God to create Lucifer knowing very well that this senior angel would defy him? Then create man to be deceived by lucifer, then create Jesus to save the fallen man and banish those who disobey him to eternal fire. Who is the main problem here. God or Man? Who created evil? Who need to be locked up in Hell, is it the creator of evil or the doer? Beats simple logic and this is where you are asked to have faith and believe.

The bible is actually all about the Salvivic Mission. God allowed man to go through the original sin which made him fall from grace. God, being merciful, sent his son to save us. So, life is all about salvation history and that is what the bible is all about. God wanted to show man that he is love, and what a better way to do so but by letting the baby crawl to the highway and just when the road train is rolling down the highway, he runs to the middle of the road and saves the baby. Details in the book are mostly filler material to show how God has been relating with man.

Some of the OT books in the bible are jewish traditions, believes and cultural identity values but the majority are spiritual concepts borrowed from the orient and some parts of African. Others are records of desert dwellers who frequently had episodes of hullucinations and daydreaming bolstered by their psychopathic tendencies. We credit the Jews for coming up with a method of recording the information and saving it for future generations. Cumlan Scrolls are recent finds on the same.

Some of the primitive accounts are way out of the modern norm but some funny characters want to believe them. That is why, many of the thriving revival churches are able to hookwink the masses with stories out of a 800BC manuscript.

If anyone believes the genesis story in the bible is truth, that some guys in the bible lived 900 yrs, that Noah was able to collect all animals in pairs such as fleas, elephants etc, then these psychopaths did an excellent job.

If you want to understand the bible, you must do Bible Exegesis. Anything else is being dumb. For us to understand 'Things Fall Apart', the best person to explain the literature and comprehension of the book is 'Chinua Achebe'. That is why we have experts in Biblical matters, they are biblical scholars. These biblical scholars will tell you that Man created God to safeguard moral values and cultures that promote human life.

So, guys, go back to your religious and cultural beliefs and secure those that will ensure progress among Africans instead of aping and drowning in others cultures which propagate slavery.

The earth is in the region of billions of years old.
And also a day in God's way could be a million years by human standards!

Exactly the point!! The Bible has so many inconsistencies that leave one wondering whether it’s truly divine. It’s good to believe to some point but this calls for caution not to allow yourself to be brainwashed. Take the Cult of Mary (Catholism) for instance and their ways of brainwashing and it’s not just them majority of these religious denomination appears to be crooked to the core.

It takes an extremely stubborn faith to maintain belief in a strict young-Earth creation in the face of the overwhelming—and still increasing—scientific evidence of the great age of Earth and the universe (not to mention the difficulty of interpreting all geology in terms of a single, recent flood). Because of the obvious difficulties of the extreme young-Earth Flood geology position, many creationists hold one of the two other main positions: "DAY-AGE" or "GAP THEORY" creationism. These allow the faithful to maintain belief in supernatural creation and the falsity of evolution but also allow for indefinitely long ages—either during (in between) the six days of creation or before. Each also involves critical compromises with the plainest, most literal reading of the Bible in order to force scripture into concordance with scientific evidence regarding the age of Earth.

"DAY-AGE" creationism takes a simple approach: the six "days" of creation were not literal twenty-four-hour days but, rather, long ages. There are various means of reconciling this interpretation with the biblical account which need not concern us here. The advantages of this interpretation are obvious: each creation "day" can be made as long as necessary, and the successive appearance of forms of life in the fossil record millions of years apart presents no problem—as long as these can all be interpreted as occurring in the same order as the sequence of events described in the six "days" of Genesis. (And this latter point does involve some stubborn difficulties. To mention only two: plants are created on the third day, although the sun is not created until the following "day"—millions of years later; and birds, as well as fish, are created on the fifth day, before land animals—in direct contradiction to the fossil record.)
The "GAP THEORY," also known as the "ruin-restitution" theory, preserves the literal, recent six twenty-four-hour-day creation but assumes that the vast ages so well attested to by science occurred prior to this set of events. In other words, Earth—and life—was created before the creation week of Genesis. This exegesis is accomplished by postulating a tremendous "gap" between the very first two verses of Genesis, into which go all the geological ages: AND THIS WAY THEY ATTEST TO A PRE-ADAMIC AGE.

Yes i understand: are you a DAY-AGE CREATIONIST or do you believe in the 'GAP THEORY'?
