Baraza bungled things up.
There is no denying that.

But then I blame her body guards for not clearing the way for her before hand.

Ordinarily they should go ahead and explain to the security guards that they are Police officers(higher ranking in security matters than private guards)incharge of a VIP and that they are there to clear the way for their chargee.

That would have put paid to this unfortunate embarassingly and costly incident.

Now we are no longer talking of mere loss of job but possible incarceration.

how do u expect the body guards to go ahead and clear the way forward if she shows the same belittling attitude towards them?

Barasa only has herself to blame and she should face the consequences of her actions.first and foremost she is a senior lawyer who is well versed with the law hence she should have known what to expect as she broke the law.secondly she helped form fida to defend the defenseless women, how ironic that she is the worst persecutor of the women.on the other hand, you need to know tgat village mkt is frequented by many many vvvips who move along with their body guards.so it is practically impossible for the security to provide exemptions for all these people, even the body guards know that.the only vips exempt are those with presidential level.BTW i saw ngilu undergo the search very cheerfully be4 these incident. so barasa abebe mzigo yako,!
Hope is not a strategy

Kenyans are a peculiar lot indeed, I wish we would all condemn corruption and crooked politicians with as much zeal as we are condemning Baraza today for such a minor misdemeanor. How worked up were you when Ruto is acquitted for grabbing land, or Uhuru was accused of post election violence or Raila was accused of conspiring to sell aflatoxin to Kenyans? Pattni is probably your pastor..... and you sit pretty kissing ass. Then one small incident that deserves a slap in the wrist and we have a panel of judges being ferried around town investigating, my foot!!! How will they clear the case backlog if they become sleuths for non events as well. I am Kenyan and very optimistic of Africa's case but its such incidents that hammer reality back that we have a long way to go!!!!!! Very long way

PS I do not in any way say what Baraza did was ok, but I dont think it deserves the attention its been accorded

You dont get the plot. The DCJ is seen together with the the CJ as the custodians of justice on behalf of the judiciary by the Kenyan mwanainchi. If such a person can commit such an arrogant "crime" then it means we are back to square one with the whole "new" constitution thing. Also note that those guys you have named there are politicians (other than Brother Paul of course) and as the public we can vote them in and out unlike Madam B.

With the passing of the new constitution we expected a new dawn in kenya under the new dispensation. With the vetting of the CJ and DCJ and judges as we saw on TV all kenyans hoped this was the beginning of good things to come. A reformed judiciary was one of the good things we expected. So when this one Barasa behaves like she did it is bound to to provoke ire in the common mwananchi like never before. With such kind of behaviour we are reminded that the status quo more or less remains the same. Did you just expect that such behaviour coming from the deputy CJ would never become so sensational?

Baraza has enlisted Gumo and Jirongo to fend off the attack. This will only muddy the waters.

How do you pinch a grown-up on the nose as a DCJ ?

If she has any decorum left she should resign and concentrate on fighting the chargers that the DPP may prefer on her.

By the way what happens if the DPP confirms charges and she is still sitting as the DCJ ?

Now what i find is the peculiar is the stuff in ;red. I guess, sisi 'wananinchi',we see things tofauti sana. But as @ Kratos has put it,The DCJ is a custodian of justice on our behalf if you will. That is why we are yelling 'step aside madam B" it is that simple yet so complicated now because it is dawning on us that after all, even activists are no different from the old order that they so fervently fought/ continue to fight. That is why we have to speak out.......using whatever means, wazua, televisheni, magazetti, kila kitu, even if just to send a message that we are keen on change.
And btw,IMHO,i find it also peculiar when Kenyans mention mistakes of the past as though to justify that if those mistakes were not punished, then this one is no biggie- that is peculiar.

Have a good day !

How will she effectivley discharge her duties if she keeps her job, the public has completely lost trust in her and resignation is the only way out!!!
