a great many geniuses have been diagnosed POST HUMOUSLY with compulsive-obsessive, schizophrenic, manic psychotic tendencies etc. Men like einstein, isaac newton are said to have had eccentric behaviours that bordered on psychosis and i don't know if i should believe in the story of the MAD GENIUS or not- http://www.sciencedaily....2009/09/090928141957.htm

Some of the characteristics of psychosis are what are actually needed for creativity, so i guess a dose of psychosis is not bad afterall.

well! some people think of the relationship between madness and genius to be a little different from what we may think.

Mania "jacks up the energy level," Weisberg points out, "but it doesn't give the person access to ideas that he or she wouldn't have had otherwise."- http://www.psychologytod...00705/genius-and-madness

looks like there is a thin line between genius and madness-in a sense genius could be viewed as well tempered madness and some madness could be seen as genius going overboard.
