Just wondering how much demand this product must have.

Because of late anything metallic can be vandalized and the vandals have gone overboard .

drums, sufurias, water pipes, windows grills are very precious items.

But the worst to me, are the guard rails along roads and bridges, because they endanger our lives on the road.

anyone noticed the state of the railway bridge at GM, mombasa road?
The guardrails is being vandalized slowly but surely,

Within the next week or two, the bridge will have absolutely no guard rails, and this will be risky especially knowing the speed at which cars fly past there, and will pose a danger to pedestrians as well.

And all manholes seem to have dissappeared leaving gaping sewers.Walking under darkness is a risky affair. This business needs some form of regulation.
Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today!

Just back from visiting abroad. Was amazed to see litter bins, steel seats, etc. in remote places. All the road signs are in place. I just used to ask myself, do we need to nationalise the scrap metal business/ Fellows have gone over board for sure

I agree fully.

It's caused soo many injuries/deaths. A colleagues father fell into one of those uncovered manholes, fractured his hipbone and somehow eventually could not make it!!R.I.P

which ministry is in charge? we can write a protest letter / mail and refer it to this blog. Specifically, which officer of the government is charge?
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

No! No! No!

It needs a complete and total ban. And anyone found engaging in the trade should be charged with economic sabotage.... and this should be made a capital offence!

Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Traders have been making millions from exporting scrap to China. But there are plans to ban export by EAC countries

C&P from http://www.en.awardatm.ru/news.php?id_art=729
The East African Community (EAC) –countries like Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda- has banned the export of scrap metal. A report in African news paper Business Daily says it offers a lifeline to the region’s metal-related industries which are facing closure due to shortage of raw materials.
