News coming through media says that Telkom Kenya has launched a new Tariff plan with the following rates.

adverts says that Telkom Kenya has launched a new tarriff, better than Vuka. i.e

calling On-net calls 4 bob all the time

Calling accross networks- 8 bob all the day.

I foresee Mass Migrations

team what do you think are the implications? i hear they are ready for real battle for the kenyan market

The Orange came in thinking selling airtime in Kenya is child play. Some of their adverts e.g one of Jua Cali and Rugby fail to drive any point !

They have a lot of 'expatriates' who are nt well versed with the peculiar Kenyan market

They lost so many Engineers to the competition since they had a wrong notion that their skills were 'outdated'

They have painfully realised that convincing a Kenyan subscriber requires a lot of price cuts. Good luck to them, though they are a bit late

The big question is how sustainable is this tariff over the long run? With taxes on airtime not likely to be reduced any time soon, how long do you think France Telkom will give the new CEO before demanding to see profits? Anyway the mass migrations you're talking about is not likely to occur since nothing has changed to warrant it,all the major players now charge an average of 8sh per minute on net. Knowing Kenyans they will simply buy an Orange line to call Orange numbers but still retain their old numbers denying Orange revenue from cross network calls. Vuka failed to ignite the mass migration that was projected,I doubt if this new tariff will...

Be the change you want to see in the world...
