Kplc connected me via postpaid meter 4 months ago when I moved into my new house. Two months ago they sent me a bill giving details of my new account but no charge. Two weeks ago they sent me another bill in which the only charge is meter rental plus VAT totalling Ksh.134 .

Now my power meter shows that I have consumed 750 units since I was connected. How much should I expect to pay for this amount of power when the actual bill finally comes. Will I be charged lumpsum or I will be billed for each of the 4 months. I have tried enquiring about the bill using the kplc bill SMS service but without success.

Around 15k to 18k, thats my guess. The last time i used 350 units they charged me 8700. Assuming the same rates apply, i'd expect you to be charged around 15k

Unfortunately they will charge lumpsum which means you will pay more than if it was calculated monthly as you will be classified as a heavy consumer. I had an experience like yours sometime back where my units accumulated to 520. I paid approx 10K. I am now more pro-active and had to get the number of the meter reading guy. I text him the consumed units at an agreed time of the month to avoid a repeat of that experience.
