What are the advantages of being in top 10 list of shareholders of a company especially being in the 8th to the 10th position? where the top 3 control over 50% are there any special benefits?

The top 10 shareholders list is merely a formality and simply a list of the largest owners in the company..

It can help users of statements to determine who controls the board and who's got majority vote.

As for the shareholders themselves the list means absolutely nothing to them...

Catch them on the management team. BTW they make very good employees, and prefer Security to Freedom!

What about the ladies who run top 10 investors? BTW what happened to Wanjku Mugane?

At least if you are top 10 you get invited to all investor breifings (read breakfast) and when KQ bring over a dreamliner/embraer you get a free ridesmile smile

Top 10 is just a list... Those who have 26% (singly or combined) have clout...

I agree its just a list likini iko mambo these boys get appeased better than Wanjiku and at a personal level.....they hardly sell even when the company looks gloomy, year in year out you see the same names with shares to some extent increasing... though no doubt with 26%....

Top 10 list is a NSE Corporate Governance and Ethics compliance requirement.

Just thought it would be worth noting that at KPLC we have an individual in the top 10 who is CK with 0.79 percent shareholding

But like it was stated before, hapo yeye ni 'Wanjiku' tu... A very rich Wanjiku thoughsmile . Gava calls all the shots...

Jamani, lets just say that the main advantage is you have more shares meaning a higher net worth, and more dividends for you. And maybe some of those goodies GG mentioned...

Most of the listed stocks were owned by the government initialy and judging from the par value it means the shares become pricier hence individuals have to cough more moneyas the Govts shareholding is reduced.

Agreed but I think there is a lot more behind the scenes..... looking at cmc high net worth guys might have been paid by either side for their votes....

If U genuinely got your wealth, it is a way of displaying it without fear. That is why CK was ranked among Africa’s richest as his wealth is abit consolidated annd can be tracked. Our Politian thieves prefer to own tiny pieces here and there with proxy names as they cannot account their loot. They will never make the list.
