Correction @kite its Wajackoyah

Sorry Robinhood, my bad.

Until today my understanding was to be a prof one needs a PhD first then later prof is a title you get from the University department after you have shown considerable contribution to your field. But our prof here has three masters degrees then got the title prof? I still need someone to clear this up for me.

@kiterunner,
Apparently professorship can be awarded based on your contribution in a given field. Prof Acholla of Chiromo campus teaches maths, he has written books that are used from standard one to university level, word has it that when he wnt to study his Phd abroad some jungu lady confused him and stole his works, he then decided not to ever do the phd, after some time because of his works he was awarded professorhip.....I stand to be collected though!!!!

There is another 'dickhead' of a professor called macharia munene, no wonder history is not a profession.

Thanks for bringing that up, Macharia Munene's articles in the East African are better than his 'punditry' of local politics. He reeks of 2007 PNU mantra.

A Ph. D. is an academic qualification

A professorship is a rank in the university teaching cadre.

The two are not related! But a Ph.D. can help one rise up to the rank of Prof.

The two are not indicators of intelligence!

Just like the military ranks, once you make the rank of Prof, you never lose the title even after you retire/resign from service. Eg, when was the last time that Prof Saitoti worked in a university?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Well said. I also doubt he could still do all the algebra and math as way back in time yet he still retained the title.
