Road to Kijabe

I am planning to visit AIC Kijabe Hospital later this week. Anyone who's been there recently?

What is the condition of the road?

The last time I went there is over 5 years ago and the stretch from the turn-off on the Nakuru Highway down the escarpment was in a very bad state.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Was there last year and it was still the same and now it should be worse with the rains

I went there yesterday. It took me about 30min from Westlands to the turn-off at Kinale forest. Then another 20min to go down the 5km stretch to the hospital.... Potholes all over the road. You'd think with such an important institution located there, some one would think of maintaining that road...

BTW: is it true that there are no bars/pubs in Kijabe town and that shops do not sell cigarettes?

was there 2 months back for a function...the Mpig addressing the congregation mentioned Kibaki had set aside some 10M aside for the road..10M???ok well cld b kama ni footpath..bt Kibaki??kwani he is also a minister??...bt am told he had given the same script earlier in the year...away from the potholes,the drive and the view down is breathtaking,fresh air...still a missionary town..noticed the gate less homesteads...hakuna wakula pombe na wavurutaji sigara!en the bizness that support the same.so before you ask...K street hakuna pia! u can retire there.

You will find the same scenario at Tenwek Mission Hospital. No bars/pubs at the nearest trading centre. Locals not allowed to operate beer/cigarette business ventures. smile
