Cooking gas prices to fall in March

Although the price of cooking gas has doubled over the past year, cost may come down in March next year when a 14,000-tonne storage now under construction in Mombasa is completed.
Kenya’s uses 100,000 tonnes of cooking gas a year and this is projected to increase to 300,000 tonnes by end of next year.

The country’s storage capacity is 7,000 tonnes lower than 13,000 tonnes required.

“A bulk storage depot and a filling and distribution plant is being built at the port under the public-private partnership arrangement,” Energy Regulatory Commission director-general Kaburu Mwirichia said.
