Okay. Now, it seems the 20th Para Commandoes are not as secretive as they thought. Otherwise, strategypage would not have had information on them.

Quoting Strategypage.

For example, the20th Parachute Regiment has long been considered an elite, highly selective and well trained unit. The 20th even has its own "best of the best"; D Company. This last outfit is considered on a par with Western commando organizations and has trained with, and been trained by, them.

When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.

hehee, nyinyi johnny-come-latelies, this unit has been in Somalia since April 11, they are one of the unsung heroes guiding Ops Linda Nchi sowing confusion in Alsababu ranks, sabotage and air strikes. I expect Kismayu to fall anytime - the Navy has even effected a blockade.

I understand most military strategists in the neighbouring countries are shocked by how KDF have moved rapidly, plus they never even knew of para 20 and that kenya had some types of equipment...

Since April? On what mission? Unless you tell me OLN (Operation Linda Nchi) had been planned long prior to troops entry into Somalia

I'm pretty sure OLN was planned much earlier than October in response to the tourist abductions.

Figures for the MoD allocation got bumped in the June budget.

They are moving with great precision and intent - clearly a product of prior planning.

Surely this wasn't an operation just planned on the fly. I'm sure the scenario planning has been done long time and only awaited a trigger event and execution!

OLN was planned before January 2011.It was not coincidental but KDF did not have the time frame to strike. The kidnappings on Kenyan soil aggravated the matter but everything was done before January 2011.

OLN has been in the pipeline for over two years boss. Look at the budgetary estimates for the army in the last three years! It has always raised questions in parliament. I know that KDF is mighty good and they will win the battle. But it is up to us KENYANS to win this WAR. We have to stand with our brothers and sisters under the moon and the sun.

with all these years/months of planning, i wonder why they chose a rainy season to attack - it has slowed down the operation.

True. militaries undertake a threat matrix assessment and develop scenarios, so that when the CIC calls them into action it is then operationalised. Can be offensive or defensive.
Some time back such an assessment showed that if hostilities were to breakout between ourselves and Ug, our troops would be in kampala within 72 hrs...
