Man Utd came through albeit with a lucklustre performance - Rooney played well in mid but was playing too deep to have maximum effect...we're really missing that boy Cleverley. Hopefully we'll up our game as tournament progresses but for now finishing top by beating Benfica at home is what matters most.

Bayern were commanding until they lost Schweinsteiger to injury and later on had a man sent off,Napoli will be tough for City at Naples. I really wish Villareal of old was playing City last night, they were torn apart!Would have made the group very tough but when you have lost 8 key players to injury, it's inevitable that you become the whipping boys - City gaining confidence with each game.

CR7 scores his 100th Real goal as Real make it 4 out 4, scoring 10 without conceding...if there was ever a time for Real to finally overcome Barca, it should be now. Apparently CR7 has scored 11 hat tricks since joining Real in 2009/2010 season while Messi has scored 14 hat tricks for Barca in 8 years! Amazing stat for CR7, too bad he'll always be in Messi's shadow - if only he had an iota of humility maybe guys wouldn't hate him that much (+ the fact that he's an ex Man Utd player)

Match day 5 will be pretty interesting and may decide top finshers for some groups and who stands best chance of qualifying runners up: Man Utd vs Benfica;AC Milan vs Barca;Napoli vs Man City;Olympiacos vs Arsenal - Marseille vs Dortmund.

Then we start separating the boys from the men...

Tonight we'll be playing against Benfica without back up midfielders in Carrick and Fletcher with Cleverley and Anderson still out - these injuries are starting to mount and hopefully will not disrupt our momentum.

We need to win this game to finish top coz Benfica will play Otelul in their final game while we'll be away to Basel...don't need strong opposition in the knockout stages when we're not 100%...but then again, this is the CL.

While I like the way Napoli have been playing, I'd prefer that City stay in the CL just a bit longer - keep them distracted. The entire team is healthy!

@ Smano....Don't forget that if Basel win against Otelul tonight they'll be on 8 pts....which means even if you win tonight against Benfica you'll have to win/draw your final match away to Basel otherwise kuna vile mnaweza jipata in second place or playing Thursday night football. This was supposed to be an easy group for Man Utd but then again Arsenal also had a fairly easy group last season but we somehow managed to screw things up.

As for Man City the best they can get out of this group is second place.

Thursday night soccer will be more distractive to them than CL.

Game of the week got to be;
Arsenal v Borussia Dortmund.
Both team are on form in their leagues especially Dortmund who beat Bayern Munich.

Actually hadn't thought about that @Mwenza...that would definitely offer the best distraction with games on Thursday though Man City can cope with the depth.

@Taz, Thursday night football for Man Utd would be a stretch, am certain Otelul will go down fighting today, am more worried about Benfica's strategy for today - we have not been convincing but at least we have gone back to the basics i.e. a good defense

@Safariant, the Arsenal group would have been very competetive had Dortmund been strong from the beginnning as they were last season in the Bundesliga when they won, right now they're playing catch up without Sahin who left for Real and Barios who is just coming from a long lay off otherwise it would have been a pretty tricky group for Arsenal. It can still be if Dortmund come away with a point (or all 3)

Tomorrow's match between AC and Barca should be a cracker as well

This game has all the markings of a cracker, but I support Messi & Co.

By the way I forgot Vidic is suspended for this game - that is quite worrying considering we have kept a clean sheet in all 5 games following the drubbing by City precisely because of his assured presence - in fact Fergie's attempt to punish Vidic following his red card against Otelul away led to that walloping. Unfortunately Smalling is not ready for today's match but Rafael is available - if I was Fergie I'd start with Fabio, Jones, Rio and Evra at the back, can't trust Evans in such a game and Rafael won't be much fit...if he was I'd start the twins on either wing since Evra keeps getting caught out of position

Anyway,hopeful we'll get a win

@Marty, can you imagine if Messi and Co finished second in their group and all teams that were fighting to finish first in theirs all of a sudden found themselves with the real possibility of being drawn against them in the knockout stage?Balaa!
