Mbo-I-Kamiti was a successful farming company whose members are mainly drawn from Kiambu. Lots of siasa and corruption ran it down during the Moi years with the likes of Karume participating in defrauding the co. Now the only reports we get from them are death reports.

it is the largest cooperative society in kenya.....with a huge tract of land at kamiti corner. The land is turning out into a cemetry in some parts as shareholders and their kin are buried there after several years of waiting for subdivision of their land that never materializes

@kabz, the directors. its about the money and greed...so cartels hire criminals to kill other members of the management to gain control.

And Moi is the one killing them now? I know it feels good to have someone to blame but please...

Moi only played with the greed of the members, directors, and the other officials. They agreed to play along. They were such good students such that once Moi left the scene, the continued the deadly game.

its a risky affair to be an official - it doesnt matter which side you are.. At some point i remember RAO trying to mediate, wonder what came of it..

Its very sad esp when the name echos the meaning of the co.

It was originally called Mbu-i-kamiti i.e. wailing from kamiti.

How sad that it has turned out to be graveyard. As one travels on Kenyatta road the third generation is busy taking up the land for themselves as they have watched their parents die in the hope that one day they will receive their fair share, which has precipitated the killing. Sad Sad

When you steal land from the peasant and shareholder, don't expect to enjoy the fruits of your looting. Am in a similar land society and its not once that I have contemplated dispatching the idiots of the committee running the society the hades. For instance, when it came to subdividing the land, the balloting done was a sham. The directors got the prime areas while we were allocated (because we only had bad area ballots to pick) either on river beds, flood areas or steep areas. You cannot go to police as they have also been given apart of the prime area. Corruption that needs drastic action. Kill them like the thieves they are, they should have been in hades like yesterday.
By inference, the man is all that Mr Phantom is not: an untrustworthy radical, divisive, too many enemies, a dictator, and a persistent liar...

Has Rao ever moderated anything that was resolved or he makes matters worse? Just wondering.

Noone is suggesting that Moi is involved now. The point is that he got involved with what appears to have been a bad intention and the company has never been the same again - at least per that story in the Nation.
