@Pastor has all but recieved unwarranted bashing for a very sensible question and for what could be an inspiring talk to some young folks. Advising kids to be better than their folks is basically asking them to set their ambitions higher, which is the least advice anyone can give to kids.

I think your approach to this topic should lean more on defining what 'BETTER THAN YOUR PARENTS' means. As opposed to assuming that it means you should be more moneyed.

Since you do not know their parents or how they got where they did economically, i suggest you dwell on BETTER in terms of character and their relationship with God and fellow men.

When you approach this topic from an economic view point... it almost seems to suggest that the said parents have failed.

What is more worth while to strive for, money or character ?

The bible teaches that a good name is better than riches, and to be esteemed better than silver or Gold.

Forget what Robert Kiyosaki has to say. You have the eternal truth about all things in the word.

....and if one of the kids is UK's??

As much as you will address the students refrain from using such words as curses.I find them intimidating and to some extent blackmail.Should realise morden kids fear nothing thus the more you tell them of consequencies of not obeying the more hardened they become.Don,t forget we grew up being told the world is ending and that was kido 35yrs ago.Therefore be real and current.

The idea of job protection for life and job benefits seemed more important, at times, than the job. He would often say, "I've worked hard for the government, and I'm entitled to these benefits."The other believed in total financial self-reliance.
