MOTOR dealer CMC yesterday asked its shareholders to ignore an ongoing exercise by Andy Forwarders to nominate proxies to vote in an upcoming extra ordinary general meeting. CMC chairman Joel Kibe said the exercise is in futility because the EGM, which was initially supposed to take place on Monday 21, has since been called off by the High Court.
Thorough a notice to shareholders in newspapers yesterday, former chairman Peter Muthoka, through Andy Forwarders, the largest shareholder at the listed motor firm, argued that even though the Monday meeting had been suspended by the courts, the ruling does not affect preparations for the EGM which will now be held at an unknown date. "We are advised that this ruling does not affect preparations of the EGM, " Muthoka said in the notice. "In particular, the closing date for the return of the proxies to Image Registrars Ltd," Muthoka argued.
