with the base rate at 24% and with their extensive borrowings, things are getting bad to worse for total

I like the candid disclosure that "were it not for other income of Kshs 200m from disposal of several company assets....the company would have registered a loss for the first nine months"

future outlook for KK?Pray Pray

Things will be tough for KK as well but if you are like me [check my original post] and can wait till 2014... plenty profits will come through!

Unlike Total Kenya... KK is a regional firm that has spread its risks & will get a huge boost once the smaller OMCs have died out in Kenya!

I have no idea how smaller firms are surviving!

The margins are too low, this industry is in its death bed if nothing is done about it.

Turnover is about 65B while cost of sales is about 62B, seriously for a capital intensive industry like this one how does it expand with such low margins.

Death bed? This industry is the main cogwheel of of all other industries! I think we shareholders will be at the losing end but the owners and employees are more than well taken care of.

BBI will solve it

How will smaller OMCs survive? If they die the industry will be in the grip of a few.

As a KK shareholder, I would like KK to be more 'powerful' but I do not think that is the way to go.

I would rather KK expands regionally while the Kenyan market continues having lots of competition even it KK 'hurts' locally due to competition...

The stock seems unaffected. Do we assume that it has already been factored.

yep. Was going through financial statements and in each of them segman re-affirms the difficulty and inefficiency of the kenyan business. I like how he scathingly attacks in each of them. It would be interesting to know kenya performance.

Sure. Let's see whether the recent KES strength will do us some justice atleast in December.

KK will be the only OMC to make money in Kenya! And that is because they are more efficient. Otherwise, it is getting tough. Good news for KK... the competitors are dying out leaving KK as the OMC that grows even bigger!

I only fill up during Deal Poa days. No-one else can compete.
