Things are looking up for Yu. Free daylight saving calls are now permanent. When are they going to float their shares at the NSE?
Wisdom to detect when share prices hit rock bottom.
When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.

With Inflation as rampant as it is Yu will continue to gain market share with their free calls business model.

And how will they manage their costs for sustainability in this period of "rampant inflation"..

@stat @guru Yu has a very lean CAPEX & OPEX unlike Safcom they dont need to spend Billions on network imprvmnt & expansion to keep & attract customers to the netwrk, what ever they get goes to the bottomline as they win more subscribers.

This announcement goes to show YU is propping itself as a takeover target it is currently winning most subscribers, as I had said earlier safaricoms rate hiked was a heaven sent gift to yu, many pple are flocking into the network and in some places the only scratch card you can get is 50/= and above.

The free call all day has a rider in that they slice 2/= on the first minute that means it is assured of atleast 2/= a day from free callers 6am-6pm night time it goes back to 3/=

On Capital breakfast show a while ago, the MD said the company’s expenses can be reduced by half through sharing the physical infrastructure (Capital investments-masts etc) with other providers and that most of its existing infrastructure is shared.

The problem with YU's approach is they cannot afford to expand the network in terms of cutting edge technology like 3G/4G etc since this cannot be shared, only masts, energy costs etc can. Subs in Kenya are also a fluid lot and will move or hold multiple sims unless there are VAS like MPesa. I wouldn't bet on the future of this company and as Selah said they are probably fattening it up for sale or have been given a target of subs to hit for takeover.

Is this not wishful thinking?
