hi all,
as we were growing up our parents and grand parents used to tells us of some myths which were thought to have some truths and somehow prophetic(?)...these were non other than the superstitions...i do not know if they had been tested to verify and confirm their authenticity..
here are some of them...
1. It's bad luck to leave a house through a different door than the one used to come into it.
2. Amber coloured beads, worn as a necklace, can protect against illness or cure colds.
3. Once a wedding ring has been placed on the finger, it is considered bad luck to remove it.
4. Before traveling a person should, apparently, sit on their luggage.
5. When you speak of bad luck, it is said that one should always knock on wood.
6. It is bad luck to put new shoes on a bed (or a table)
7. Opening an umbrella indoors and placing it over someones head will result in 21 days of bad luck.
8. If one walks underneath an open ladder it is said to bring bad luck but this can be undone by immediately walking backwards back underneath the ladder.
9. Breaking a mirror is said to bring bad luck for 7 years. To "undo" this, take the shards of glass and bury them underneath the moonlight.
10. If a black cat passes or crossing one's path this signifys an impending bad luck.
11. Collect seven or nine different flowers on the middle of hot season and place them under your pillow and it is said that you will dream of your future spouse.
12. If an owl hoots just near the homestead, somebody from the homestead will die.
14. 13 is an unlucky number

...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...
