Before the news, one of our latest 'waste of time and resources' parastatals was busy running long and expensively crafted adverts on taking pride in our nation - what load of boloney! How about the asking government to get its act together first on simple basics instead of rushing to sell bangi in the vegetable market

As of this morning I am very embarrassed and ashamed of being part of this state. How the hell do you make an innocent citizen minding his own business eat the brains of another after having witnessed you blow up the brains of that person? Thereafter proceed to decapitate his manhood in the most crudest and humiliating of ways pulling it and knocking his jewels into pulp.

Since when did we get so heartless and kill parents in front of their children? Do we expect these children to turn out good and why should we be surprised if these children driven by a deep sense of injustice go after justice in how they perceive it, who would begrudge them? I know I wouldn't because listening to their stories makes you want to hurl something dongle shaped at Vigilance house.I also have my doubts on the Buru buru incident, they say he was a cop involved in theft but going by the efforts expended to eliminate him it appears he probably didn't play ball and had to leave the scene.

And we talk of Vision 2030, Lamu port and similar nonsense...MJ was spot on during the funds drive for Kenyans for Kenya initiative when he said Kenya should stop chasing white elephant projects like Lamu port and most of that other vision 2030 nonsense if we can't feed people, have human beings respected and safe to mind their own affairs.

As for police reforms my strongly held conviction would be to send all 42k of them home and let them apply afresh for their jobs and only retain at most retain 20% of the very best no room for somehow ok. The current thinking that vetting would weed out the rotten apples is very misplaced, we are dealing with a very rotten institution and vetting hubris is a waste of time we are better of starting from scratch. We have young men willing to do an honest job for an honest day's pay and they are millions of them around the country. There many ways of plugging the gap during the recruitment including using military for some functions.

I also wonder why Moha has never won a single journalism award? Reminds you of Prof. Maathai, the young man has a personal crusade against continued use of unga and he is doing something about it. I surely hope the state and more so the cops won't be as foolish to attempt to eliminate him.

And the government says it's willing to fight drugs! We now know better.

Onsarigo might bag this one...perhaps its time for cnn and other international awards to consider other langauges.

My sentiments exactly. People might decide to deal with these fellows themselves. I wouldn't put it beyond a son/brother/cousin etc. traveling to Somalia or some other place for "military" training, getting himself a cache of weapons then hunting these barons down and dealing with them personally.

Firing ALL policemen in Kenya and hiring new ones would be extreme but guess what, I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Nothing short of EXTREME will remedy the situation we find ourselves in.

When Kibaki came to power, I was so sure that a vast majority of the policemen would be shown the door but as it turned out, the optimism we all had was totally misplaced. Do you remember members of public arresting police officers who were asking for bribes? We were so convinced we had turned a corner... but alas!!! Same old $#!&, just a different toilet!

People in certain quarters are afraid that if the policemen are fired, they will become criminals. News flash! They ARE criminals!!! With a proper plan and structure, we can pull this off. We should assume that the worst case scenario will happen and plan for it. We are good at changing laws/the constitution with a predetermined goal/plan. How about changing the law to require that every police officer fired in the next five years will be required to wear an ankle bracelet. That ought to help us trace their movements! Radical solutions to deep rooted problems.
