Wazuans,
Please recommend a low maintenance 4 wheel drive for somebody who travels to Western every other weekend and would be using the same vehicle to commute within nai. By a low maintenance, I mean:
-low fuel consumer
-reliable
-cheap to repair i.e. plenty of spare parts not the ones that have to be "ordered" kutoka ng'ambo".

thanks

Of late I have even seen 4WD starlet :) Also look out for the pajero mini, but make sure u dont exceed 60KPH on your western kenya trips, they are meant for sight-seeing.

Try a Land Rover Defender 2.5 diesel (i5 turbo)! Plenty of parts, mechanics, & you can acquire a used one pretty cheap too, locally!
Just my 1 cent!

WHHATTTTT...

First time i have had someone mention Land Rover with Cheap in the same sentence, a schoolboy error i presume..(Lets not even go to the low-maintenance part)...Rule of thumb, Land Rover parts are about double the costs of parts of other cars, and (good) labour is too...they are some of the best cars you can have and can be very reliable ONLY if you treat them well and not cut corners (kinda like any cars really) however, the overall running costs are huuugeee relatively speaking, and forget it when someone tells you that the diesel TDI is better, its only better when compared against a fellow Land Rover engine, not other cars...

Treat this as 'inside Information', if you are still brave enough, by all means join us....

I have seen a couple of new look Suzuki Grand Vitara's lately on the roads. There could be a reason to it. Any opinion from owners?
