Carbacid which traded 307,000 shares yesterday traded 4.606m shares
worth 603.302m which was in fact 79.274% of the Entire Volume at the
Bourse today. The 2 Day Cumulative total shares traded is 4.913m
shares which equates to 14.458% of the Shareholding of the Company and
hence is quite material. Carbacid traded a 130.00-133.00 range and
closed 3.7% lower on the session at 130.00. Carbacid trades on a 14.36
Trailing PE but saw EPS ease to 4.03 versus 4.58 for the Previous
Equivalent 1st Half. Carbacid has posted a 2.00% return over 1 Year
but has retreated 7.14% in 2011.

That spike in volume is quiet interesting.

NOW COMPARE

Carbacid Investments Ltd. (CBIL), a Kenyan carbon-dioxide maker, snapped two days of gains after one of its key investors said it plans a “substantial’’ divestiture of its stake in the company.

The shares fell 2 shillings, or 1.5 percent, to 128 shillings by the 3 p.m. close in Nairobi.

Centum Investment Co., the biggest publicly traded investment company in East Africa, plans a “substantial divesture” of its 22 percent stake in Carbacid, Centum Chief Executive Officer James Mworia said in an e-mailed statement today. The sale is meant to raise funds for other investment opportunities, Mworia said.

This is a belated announcement by Centum. Everyone believes that the recent big sales of Carbacid were done by Centum. Mworia is now confirming this fact after he's flown the coop (at a massive profit).

I consider this to be a positive move for Centum and will be looking to augment my stake in Centum. I imagine the proceeds will find their way into the real estate investments.

Not going OTT, but I think James Mworia may do to Centum what James Mwangi is doing to HFCK. The Carbacid move was typical of how he is going to be playing this game.

@Mainat, care to clarify your statement below. I know Equity has a stake in HF but the last I heard is that Equity was not adding (or not being allowed) to add to their position.

And BTW (on a lighter note), should we read anything in the similarity of the initials of the two CEOs at Centum and Equity?

You've got to admire this other JM at Centum. Made a killing on this deal.

Please have a look at the BoD composition pre and post Equity stake in HFCK. In short, Equity wants HFCK to become its mortgage and property outlet.

The two JMs are different personalities but are similarly very ambitious and passionate about their firms...
