The problem with the auctions are the cartels

To be or not to be is the question
to be or not to be remains the question

@ Scar,

Are the auctions conducted by KRA themselves or they appoint an independent auctioneer?

never taken part, but am told they are 'for members only' wahindi wamekalia viti huko na milions in cash ready - and gladly buy you out to ensure you dont show up next time. But since I haven't actually been there, maybe you should attend and don't bid kwanza, just study the trends before making your moves...

Yaani no wazuan has ever participated in this KRA auctions?
If there is, how is it conducted? Quality of auctioned goods? Procedures? etc etc etc

A few years back, I innocently went to Mombasa and was stupidly surprised on the auction day to find only a couple of bolts left.
All the good stuff was miraculously cleared the day before the auction and no one at KRA I asked knew anything. Blank looks galore.
Never bothered again and wild horses will never ever drag me there EVER!

Kenya is loosing billions upon billions per year at the port.

It's absolutely incredible.

EDIT: I've always wondered, just how do the banks allow corruption proceeds to enter the banking system i.e. a KRA inspector depositing millions a month?
