Cheers @JBlaze. Wow! Very generous of KP!

Very generous indeed. A div was expected, but a bonus has come as a bonus to shareholders Applause

Yap we are not anticipating but am suddened by this uncooth behaviour of our ceo's running to foreign media to report results when there is nothing in the local media, nse website or even their website...however i have confirmed kplc as one of my 5yr hold stocks.

I'm happy with the results, not far from the 15% they projected in Feb 2011, Its a sustainable growth that's why i like it. But why a bonus after doing a rights issue less than a year ago? it will dilute the already diluted shares further. anyway i'll take it, but with more questions than answers.

I just have this eerily feeling KEGN will pay 0.50 cents. as indicated by madam.

Talking about dividends- unga's is 0.75!!!!! yield is 7.5%. mumias' is 0.50!! yield is 7.7%. but no-one is interested.

Dissapointing.

Generally, most of us hold utilities for their defensive nature which includes regular and predictable dividends. Of course one can sell their bonus shares (and create their own dividend). I predict that's precisely what will happen. I therefore do not expect much upside on this share in the next 6 months.

Now, let's see what KenGen comes up with but I would hope they do not follow KPLC's example.

My strong hunch is that more KGN will be up for sale via private placement in our next national budget..should open up better price discovery when it comes to pass.

I agree. I was expecting 0.65 cents only to be slapped with one otonglo (.10 cents). To rub salt in the injury payable next year!!!!!!!!!

I would have been happier with the bonus if it was not in the NSE. A bonus or rights in the NSE is like a bitter reward always followed by an automatic downward readjustment of the share price to match the dilution.

BBI will solve it

@2012. I do not hold a lot of KPLC - sold off the bulk before the rights issue and then sold off most of the shares that I bought during the rights issue. But I am pissed off that even the shares that I still hold will not be paying me much in the way of a dividend.

I do not consider KPLC to be a growth stock in the classic sense (ala KenolKobil, Centum etc). Hence I expect a dividend not a bonus from them unless the bonus does not negate/reduce my cash dividend.

@mwanahisa. I on the other hand consider it a growth stock because think they have the biggest growth potential. It's just that it's in the wrong hands and after the rights that handed back full control to the govt. the future is definitely not rosy.

There is something fishy about these results. I just can't put my finger on it. There is something going on.
