New KRA TSW Version out

There is a new version of the Taxpayer Software from KRA - ver 1.7.3 The online system is not accepting returns made with the older version. Get your copy here: http://www.kra.go.ke/index.php/download-tsw While there, you should also download the updated Java Runtime Environment (JRE) - ver 1.6.0 [or newer] - otherwise the "mapato" system will still reject your returns. @subzero & @Live_Kiberenge: Yes. It works very well. I have been using it for the last couple of years - since July 2009. I use it for monthly VAT returns, but it also has space for annual income tax return. Very convenient instead of queuing at Times Towers... You simply do the return in your office, file it in, print out a payment slip and take the money to the bank. That's it.

YES; the new JAVA works. I used it for Sept returns.

Another version of the TSW is in the works. Unfortunately, KRA upgraded the on-line system BEFORE issuing the new TSW. Therefore, all tax returns made with the "older" TSW [ver 1.7.3] cannot be uploaded! What idiot made this goof? How how can you upgrade the receiving system before the sending one is read for distribution? Their suggestion? Eti we do the return "live"! Now can you imagine keying-in all the daily purchases for a whole month all over again? I am usually very kind to KRA, but this time they have really goofed!

KRA Sent me an email "directing" me to re-submit my Jan VAT using this new version 1.7.2...

When you install version 1.7.4 you are unable to view prior returns filed. But if you want to view the older returns, recreate the returns using the version 1.7.4. It automatically fills in the previously data in data for each form.
