*swallowing gimmick* - how long has 'New Shell Unleaded Extra' been in the KE market? Want to review my fuel records for the last few years.

Best way to save fuel is to drive 'smart' - http://www.shell.co.mu/h.../2010/smartdriving.html

Some two to three months ago.

...Shell Unleaded Extra and Shell Diesel Extra are available only in Shell Service Stations and cost the same as ordinary fuel....smile

@Impunity; isn't it curious that you are asking people to buy the stuff in order to prove it? If shell were serious about the claim, they'd sell it at a discount (KK-style) for a limited duration in order to encourage people to actually try it and see for themselves.

Now, going back to that V-Power thing. I tried it out, fueled my car on my regular journey to Mombasa. I did not notice any improvement in performance. In fact, the car consumed more fuel than usual!

Normally it reaches half-tank just after Voi. With V-Power, it touched half about 50km BEFORE voi. And on the return journey, the "Enough" light came on before Athi-River. Normally I get to Nairobi with about a quarter tank remaining!

Is that fuel still on sale or did they withdraw it after price control? I remember they had great difficulty convincing ERC that it is not the same as "SUPER" petrol....

Any way; after that experience, I am not going to try their new brand. I have more faith in the 2-bob discount I get from KK straight from the pump. No complicated science explaining how I will save money in the long term.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Leo the car has 'drank' this shell business. My eye shall be keener than usual.

I've used v power but like @mukiha says, didn't notice much (apart from the lighter wallet). If you drive a turbo petrol or some engines (e.g. the older subaru outback/tribeca 3.0L recommends a higher grade of petrol than the current 3.6L one) , it may be of help (greater power output)

By the way guys, what is the octane level difference of V Power, Unleaded Super, leaded super, premium, regular, diesel? Most cars are rated to 'drink' 87 Octane... where does that fall?

From the shell website: V Power should be 95 RON. They apparently have 'V Power - Racing' at 100 RON
