Since am not upgrading my 1994 corolla soon, thanks to the dollar, am shopping for a serious service package to diagnose,check,tune,fix and provide a comprehensive defect report for my car.

Have found the following from Toyota site HERE, done at KSh23,000.. Is it a deal or I can get the same/better at a cheaper rate somewhere else.. I am a Kirinyaga road member but don't trust them for such a job.

@Dij,
It's a screw job from the front.You realise there are only two terms in the deal.Check and inspect.....Nothing stops the guys from coming up with a list of spares against each operation alongside the word "replace".That's when the bill hits 400K or above......A good jua cali mech would do this for 5 bob.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Try Stantech. I think price depends on parts replaced.

I'd suggest you go to your regular mech that know is skilled for the job and have him inspect all those things that you've mentioned. Then let him acompany you to Kirinyaga rd and purchase any gadget that needs replacement and have him fix for you. and pay him 5k at most. It is easier and cheaper that way

If you have the time, always wise to be present / do all the parts purchases.

Dijkstra,

I wrote the review you're talking about in the quote above. Like you, I drove an old--16 years old--car and didn't want to buy a new one just yet. After taking it to the authorized dealer for my car's brand, who charged me an arm and a leg, gave me a long list of parts that I needed to replace, and gave me my car back in much the same condition I took it in, I was on the lookout for a garage that would do a thorough job, at an affordable price, and give me a professional, reliable mechanical opinion--not just tell me that every part in my car needed to be replaced.

I found Stantech Motors a short while later and never looked back. I used to take my car there in a horrible state (which would have me swearing that it was time to buy a new car) but my car would come back to me purring...and so I'd keep it a little longer until the next time it was due for service which would have me swearing again that it was time to buy a new car. smile

When I was a customer there, Stantech had several different types of service--mini, medium, and major service--with different prices and scopes of work. Though they would tell me that things needed to be replaced in my car, they would also give me a time frame, i.e, what was urgent vs. what could wait a while (and of course, they'd do no extra work until I had authorized it).

After using them for close to 5 years, I can wholeheartedly say that their service was worth every shilling I paid them. If their services remain what they were a couple of years ago, I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Good luck in finding what you are looking for!
