Years back, the slogan no romance without finance was unheard of! Our forefathers would never dare equate romance to the number of cows in the shed. Years later, we find ourselves circled by that slogan. The slogan stretches from our humble villages to a couple residing on the other side of the world. It raises the debate between materializing love and being in a secure relationship.

I find the slogan like a coin. two sided. On one side, which lady would feel secure with a pauper? A girl needs look nice and live well. This is probably why there is the case for paying the dowry.

The flipside of this coin totally shows that romance has been commercialized and become materialistic. Do I need buy that love? What if I buy it, what am I guaranteed of? This totally makes it look like I have bought someone off the shelf of a store.

Let us delve this topic deeply.

No lady would want to leave her parents and go live under a roof that leaks and a door that is not open. Same applies to the sons of Adam. We all need live a life that is catered for, from the basic needs to other needs that show the depth of love. We recently read the story of a lady who said whoever wants her hand in marriage should be able to pay dowry worth million. Are ladies becoming unrealistic? When do we know this is how far you can go when it comes to being taken care of? When does one know that this girl is a mere gold digger?

"Men on the other hand also need know the responsibility that comes with romance. No lady would want to live with a pauper," Said Humphrey Kariuki Ndegwa. She needs look good. A relationship is a serious business of some sort. Invest in it. Work hard. You have even seen it in that Scooby Doo cartoon, the way that guy works hard to make sure he gets noticed by that lady. Too bad I forgot the characters names.

The saying no romance without finance has greatly tainted love. Most men with money are finding it very difficult to really trust girls. Love has really become elusive and, it is really hard to recognize the real thing. It is therefore very necessary to look at yourself as an individual. You need to keep a focus on what matters most to you. You need to be judged according to what your hearts holds dear. If you fall in love with a person who is not well up, will you dump them for money? These and more questions need to be answered by you. The best thing is to look for the real thing not just the finances. However, if your goal is just to be stable financially, you will go for what you are looking for.

Tommorow we look at the flipside, I have catered for you, what is in for me?

Atiriri Amothi,

Welcome to the Virtual Republic of Wazua.

This thesis-like business avoid in the future.

Stick to business like:

Habari zenu Wazuans.

I have a friend who has been rejected by his girlfriend because he is from a poor family and he is not rich, and can not afford dowry (is that the spelling?).

What kind of advice should I give to him?

Na mambo kama hayo.

Again, my neophyte, welcome to the Virtual Republic of Wazua.

Payment made by a man to his bride's family is called BRIDE PRICE.

Payment made by a woman to her groom's family is called DOWRY.

Dowry is an Asian practice while Bride Price is African. Don't confuse the two.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

Beat me to it. Seems like some people tend to romanticise the past too much.

Regardless of origin (Asian, Middle English, Anglo-Norman French etc) dowry does not exclusively refer to payment made by the woman to the husband's family:

Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary
Quote:
1 - money and/or property that, in some societies, a wife or her family must pay to her husband when they get married

2 - money and/or property that, in some societies, a husband must pay to his wife's family when they get married

And since fortunes are known to change at the drop of a hat (riches to rags- in this case) what happens? Does the woman u married while u were loaded divorce u? What if u were more loaded than her before u got married then she gets a high flying job, what happens then?
Love is (and shud be) deeper than finances.

she might not divorce you but certainly she would like to. so

Its not money they love is the security which include Money and what money can buy plus the strong genes for the offspring ( its assumed if you can make money you are smart hence strong) hence you will pass the genes to your off springs its survival for the fittest and when females in any spices loss that instinct we end up with weaker next generation and on and on until the whole spices disappear like the Dinosaurs. So don't blame women they are only trying to preserve mankind d'oh!Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly
