@the deal

1) What competition does it face in the local/domestic market? Please elaborate with examples & facts.
2) PW's (current) ambitions seems to be confined to Tanzania (a huge country) + some neighboring routes so not a hub airline.
3) See (2) above. Of course, I expect PW to leverage its presence to serve Tanzanians traveling on DIRECT flights to Dubai & London NOT as a hub but point to point travel.
4) LOL... Get serious. Let PW walk before it runs. KQ's startegy & PW seem different. PW is buying ATRs + 737s while KQ is buying Embraers + 787s though it would surprise me if KQ were to lease 1-2 to PW in 3-4 years.

PW is aiming High Mwalimu http://www.tanzaniainves...precision-air-interview

True, but they are now opening up their market to foreigners. TBL will also be open to all foreigners and EAC

This caught my eye:

"Analysts estimate Precision Air’s value at $100 million if it will be looking to raise $30 million from selling a 31 per cent stake. This means that KQ which made an initial investment of $1.6 million in 2003 will be valued at $34 million"

Similar to what will happen to Michael Shirima who founded PW in 1993. An answer to why they are happily welcoming the mammoth dilution

Let's just call it un-locking value ;-)

circa KES 1B. They want an outright oversubscription so that they can post headlines like “Investors are overconfident with Precision Air”. That will augur well with the share price in the secondary market

Sigh... @thedeal is still learning. No point in raising cash you do not need since it reduces the ROE. Cash does not earn you much vs (most) investments.

Let PW raise what it needs not raise cash just coz it can!

I was referring to Liquidity of the stock...59 Mln will make the stock not trade for month considering we are talking of the DSE here...why not price it even at TSh100 and create more shares since now the whole is allowed to participate!

ze deal-good pt. While we don’t want a repeat of Safcom IPO fiasco, issuing 59million shares means that 20,000 investors will get 3,000 shares each. Even worse if its 200,000 investors.

This is Tanzania - where even the most liquid stocks hardly trade!

Also TZS 475 = KES 25 so perhaps the idea was to 'match' the KQ Rights price?
